Platinum Research Organization, Inc.: Whitmore Group to Market New Rail Grease Using Catalyzed Materials From Platinum Research Organization
Whitmore Group to Market New Rail Grease Using Catalyzed Materials From Platinum Research OrganizationField Tests Complete; Lubricant for Railroad Applications Is Now on the Market DALLAS, TX — (MARKET WIRE) — November 20, 2006 — The Whitmore Group, a Rockwall, Texas-basedcompany that develops and markets specialized lubricants and coatings, isintroducing
a new custom, curve-rail, anti-wear lubricant that usescatalyzed materials developed and patented by Platinum ResearchOrganization, Inc. (OTCBB: PLRO) (PRO).
In field tests conducted in late 2005 and early 2006, the lubricantdemonstrated better performance characteristics than comparableformulations without the PRO materials, according to Whitmore’s TechnicalDirector, Milt Wittig. Furthermore, simultaneous advanced laboratory testsutilizing actual rail metallurgy revealed appreciable anti-wear protectionfrom the PRO catalyst.
“Not only did the lubricant perform better in tests, PRO’s formulationreduces the additive package cost since it uses less molybdenum disulfide(moly), a critical anti-wear ingredient in most greases,” said Wittig.
“We’re excited that Whitmore will be the first company to commercialize ourpatented formulation,” said Matt Hawkins, PRO’s Vice President of Sales andMarketing.
The formulation was developed by scientists at the University of Texas atArlington and The Whitmore Group, which conducted the field tests.
“The lubricant uses patented catalyzed materials developed by PRO incombination with ZDDP (zinc dialkyl dithiophosphate) to significantly lowerthe amount of moly needed to meet wear protection requirements,” explainedPranesh Aswath, Ph.D., a professor in the department of mechanicalengineering and materials science and engineering program at UTA, whoconducted the laboratory tests leading up to the development of thelubricant.
“Since the price of moly has increased significantly over the last severalyears, PRO’s formulation allows Whitmore’s customers to continue to reapthe benefits of moly while reducing the amount of moly required as well asthe cost,” Hawkins said. Whitmore intends to market the new lubricant aspart of its Railmaster® line.
Hawkins noted that PRO plans to continue working with The Whitmore Groupand several other companies in the lubricant field to develop and test newanti-wear greases for CV joints and other industrial applications.
