The Templeton Publishing Subsidy Program was created in response to avision of Sir John Templeton. The founder of the John Templeton Foundationand Templeton Foundation Press, who is now close to 93 years old, said ayear ago that he would like to support publishing projects that make thegrowing scholarship and research in the science-religion field available tothe next generation. While Templeton Foundation Press is, of course, a keypublisher in this field, Sir John wanted to encourage other publishers toexpand their lists to include more books on the science-religion dialogue– and he delighted in the concept of a publishing company helping otherpublishing companies make books financially feasible.
Templeton Foundation Press took up the challenge, designed a program thatwas granted funding by the John Templeton Foundation, implemented theprogram, and now manages the program.
