The Struggle to Compete With Other Internet Marketers Posted By : Ruth Barringham
Only a few years ago there were only a few internet marketers. But now there are thousands. Just think, if there were only 52 internet marketers in the world and they each brought out 1 new product each year, that would mean there’d be 52 new products on the market every year.
But there are now thousands of internet marketers all over the
world. So how do you compete if you’re just starting out? – especially when you’re up against all the established gurus already out there?
First you need to know your strengths and then you can build a business around this. But don’t get confused with your passions. You won’t get rich from something you’re passionate about, but what you’re strong in.
You also need a clear vision of where your business is heading. It’s no good cruising along selling lots of different products that have no central fusion.
Getting yourself a role model helps. If there’s a guru already making a huge killing online doing exactly what you wish you were doing, then study closely what they do and follow their lead. But make sure you have your own clear vision first of what you want to achieve with your own business. Write it down in a full page manifesto if it helps and pin it on your wall and recite it every day.
You then need to be totally committed to what you’re doing. You need to think about it all the time and have lots of ‘eureka!’ moments. Don’t let yourself be distracted by flimsy ideas that may seem like great money-spinners at first glance, but given afterthought, they are not what will drive your business forward and so are just time-wasters.
You need to be good at only one thing to be a success. There are many people who try to be great at lots of things but end up making no money. Those that are dedicated to the one thing that they’re good at, end up rich. For instance, people who want to play football professionally, aren’t just good all-round players, but they excel in one particular position on the field. If you put them into another position they probably wouldn’t be as successful. So find out what you’re best at – your ‘specialist’ subject.
Then once you know what you’re best at, where you want to be and what you have to do to get there, the next thing is to make sure that everything you do is effective. For example, if you’re marketing by email, make sure that your emails are effective enough to make more sales. It’s no good sending out flimsy emails that are nothing more than a straight sales pitch if you only make 12 sales for every 1,000 emails sent. Instead take more time to send a longer and more effective email that is full of information that people want to read and that way you could make 120 sales for every 1,000 emails you send.
But some people are better at email marketing while others are better at using Google AdWords while still others are making a fortune on eBay and even more are making a living as affiliates.
So however you decided to make your living online, find your niche, your strengths, your role model, and keep your vision up close and in front of you at all times. If you keep on trying to get there, sooner or later you’ll arrive.!– google_ad_section_
